Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Full Guide
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Ltd. is a reputed Centre-state Public Sector company, known as Delhi Metro. The DMRC is also concerned in the preparation and implementation of the rapid metro, metro rail, monorail, and high-speed rail projects in smart cities of India and abroad. The work of DMRC is broadly split into a range of parts namely Projects, Operation and Maintenance, Finance, Human Resources, etc. which are controlled by the individual Directors under the direction of the Managing Director.
DMRC Ltd was established on 3 May 1995 with E. Sreedharan serving as the first managing director. Sreedharan handed over charge as MD of DMRC to Mangu Singh on 31 December 2011.
Achievement
DMRC received exceptional Best Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) award in 2016 conferred by the All India Management Association (AIMA). DMRC was awarded for its "Outstanding Contribution" for promoting top-class services in Urban Transportation and adopting the most excellent practices of Project Management.

DMRC Training Institute
DMRC gives training to its staff at the DMRC Training Institute in Shastri Park, New Delhi. This is one of the most metro rail training institutes in South Asia. DMRC has trained 300 staff from Namma Metro, Kochi Metro, Chennai Metro, Rapid Metro Gurgaon, and Jaipur Metro.[citation needed] It provides trained staff to new metros on a temporary basis at initial stages.
DMRC in partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi offers a one-year postgraduate diploma in metro technology. The course produces 25 executives of various streams, viz. Electrical, Civil, Architecture, Signalling, and Telecom, a year to staff metros across India. The Indian Institute of Technology Madras also offers a similar course for the Chennai Metro.
National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC)
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is a Joint Sector Company of Government of India and Delhi’s States, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh is mandated for implementing the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project across the National Capital Region (NCR), ensuring a balanced and sustainable urban development from side to side better connectivity and access.
Funding of DMRC
Fund was the main key factor for the successful implementation of this project. DMRC needs fund, therefore, planned well in advance and sources of the funds tied up before the work started.
The DMRC project word started in 3 phases:
Phase I: (Total Cost- 10,571 Crores): Generally, about 60% of the project cost was financed by Japan’s Government, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), which is known as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Rest of 40 % financed by the Central Government and the State Government (28%), roughly worked out to (5%) of the project cost and balance (7%) funds were internally generated through property development.
Phase II (Total Cost- 18,783 crores or (US$ 3.2 Billion): Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) contributed 54.47% of funding. While the equity from the Governments of India and Delhi greater than before to 16.39 5 each. For the construction of the Airport Express link 39% which was contributed by the governments of India and Delhi and 45% by the concessionaire as this was the first-ever project of the Delhi Metro on the public-private partnership model.
For Delhi Metro to Gurgaon, Haryana and NOIDA in Uttar Pradesh, by the respective state governments contributed 58% each.
Phase III (Total Cost 41,079 crores): JICA provides 48.57% of the total fund, while the Government of India and the Government of Delhi will pay 10.04% each.
The expenses for the expansion of Metro to Faridabad is ` 2,492 crores and the Metro corridor from Kalindi Kunj to Botanical Garden in NOIDA will cost 894 crores.
